FAQ’s

How long does it take to cook?
A hog can take anywhere from 6 – 8 hours to cook depending on size. Please contact us to discuss logistics for individual events. There may be restrictions as to what time we can serve the hog roast, depending on the day and your location

How far will you travel?
We will travel anywhere within 40 miles of Stirling for no additional cost, however (depending on the size of the event and the package) anywhere further afield may incur an extra cost. Please contact us to discuss.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?
Yes, of course. Our chef is highly versatile and can cook fantastic vegetarian and vegan dishes. Please contact us to find out what we can do.

Does the venue have to be indoors?
No, we can cook indoors or outdoors. We provide everything you need for either. If it is an outdoor event, we bring our own gazebo so no matter what the weather, you can still enjoy your hog roast.

How do I pay?
We ask for a 25% deposit upon booking and the remainder to be paid up no later than 6 weeks before your event. These are payable by bank transfer or by card online Please read our terms and conditions before making a booking.

I don’t want pork, can I have something else?
Yes – of course hog is our favourite – but we can roast lamb too! We can also do a BBQ with burgers, sausages  and assorted foods if you prefer. Get in touch for custom quotes.

Terms and Conditions

Upon confirmation of your booking, you agree to our terms and conditions which are as follows. Throughout these terms and conditions, the use of ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’ refers to Cat and Turtle, and ‘you’ or ‘your’ refers to the customer or client.

1. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking. Until we are in receipt of this payment, your booking is not confirmed. We will confirm your booking by email, along with an invoice for the final payment. Payments can be made via bank transfer to the account detailed in the invoice, or via Paypal.
2. Cancellations within six weeks of your function/event will incur full cost.
3. Outstanding balances must be paid six weeks before your event/function, otherwise we reserve the right to cancel your booking.
4. Any changes in your catering numbers and/or menus must be made in writing no later than two weeks before your event.
5. We do not accept liability for any failure to provide services which are caused by circumstances beyond out control, including fire evacuations, power and water failure, or ‘acts of God’. However, we will endeavour to assist and find alternative solutions where possible.
6. We have full public liability insurance.
7. Parking is the responsibility of the customer where permits or tickets are required.
8. You are responsible for providing Cat and Turtle with a sufficient flat set-up space that measures at least 4×3 metres for our equipment. This space must be easily accessible and with minimal steps.
9. You are responsible to provide us with electricity.
10. Depending on the type of event, we  may need up to 24 hours access to the venue prior to serving.
11. We cannot be held responsible for any allergies caused by our food. We will always endeavour to make sure our foods are allergen free where it has been bought to our attention, however we cannot be held responsible for any mild cross contamination in the kitchen. Please contact us if you or any of your guests have special dietary requirements.

12. We strive to serve food on time, however our chef reserves the right to change the serving time if he/she deems the food not ready for consumption.
13. Cat and Turtle are not liable for any damages, accidents or injuries to persons or pets whilst using or handling equipment.
14. The customer must provide us access to toilet facilities and clean, hot, running water.
15. If the customer changes the serving time on the day, we cannot be held responsible for the quality of the product.
16. Hog roast machines get very hot during and after cooking. Children and non-serving persons should be kept at a safe distance.
17. Due to EHO and Food Standards Act 1999, which states that food can only be left out for a maximum of 2 hours and should after this be disposed of, we can only serve for 1-2 hours at functions and events.
18. If the customer would like to keep any remaining hog they must provide food grade bags or containers, but we cannot be held responsible for any food product after we have left the premises and the customer will have to sign a disclaimer before any food is left.
19. Abusive and threatening behaviour towards our staff at your event will not be tolerated under any circumstances and could result in us; contacting the police, leaving your event with no refund and legal action being taken.
20. Any damages to our equipment caused by the customer or guests will need to be paid for no later than 7 days after the event.
